KIHEI/WAILEA

 Kihei is full of hotels, condos, shops and restaurants. The developers have been busy here, because it's a perfect tourist area. The weather in Kihei can be counted on to be the best on all of Maui. Days of blue skies and sunshine are taken for granted. On the other side of the condos and hotels are gorgeous beaches, every one open to the public. The views out ot sea are wonderful with vistas of Lanai, Kaho'olawe, Molokini, and West Maui. It's quieter than Lahaina, with fewer restaurants and not as much action, but for sun and surf, this place has it all.
Wailea is a deluxe resort area that was bleak and barren until Alexander and Balwin Co. decided to landscape it into an 1,450-acre oasis of world-class golf courses, an 11-court tennis facility, and destination resorts. The five beaches that front the resorts are all open to public and have parking lots, showers, and picnic tables.
